Three times a year for approximately three weeks, Mercury, the planet of communication turns retrograde. During this Mercury Retrograde period, time seems to stand still, making it feel like one-long-day. It's a time to turn inward and reevaluate, redo or revamp.
Be sure to back up your hard drive, double check all details, and prepare for delays or misunderstandings; and don't all of a sudden decide to move the furniture, you will just move it all back in a month. So don't make any really important changes, but if you have to, expect the changes to be temporary or perhaps having to reconsider and make additional changes after Mercury goes direct.
I find Mercury Retrograde, from the moment I recognize the desire to move the furniture around, about ten days before, as a time to seek advice, to fine-tune a plan, or to work behind the scenes. I sketch it out first.
Like any cycle, this is a period to plan and to prepare for activities that will be implemented later after Mercury goes direct. But don't underestimate "this-kind-of-time". It can make some people clear-headed without mind-chatter, bringing confidence and the, in-the-right-place and the right-time timing..., so go figure?
I like to think of Mercury Retograde periods as a time when we are brought back into harmony with the Divine Will. Stay still, and know. Seek activities along these lines.
"Through focusing our attention upon a problem, we can come to know our own limitations, as well as the limitations of other expressions of consciousness, human or otherwise. We may then use this self-knowledge to create goals in harmony, not only with the Divine Will, but with what we are capable of achieving at the moment." (Rev. Ann Davies-Inspirational Thoughts On The Tarot, p.9)
