Aries Balancing

Merging our sense-of-self with the other.
The opposite sign is Libra, the color green, the sign of the other. Merging with another is only possible if we first feel ourselves as being separate from them.
Esoterically, there really is no other; for all is one. Others, are merely a mirror, and understanding them as a refection of us, is the lesson for the higher reasoning abilities of Aries, to develop for all other signs, as well.
The dichotomy for an Aries, is that all personal motivation is based on values that others admire and projected upon us. In fact, our whole sense-of-self, no matter what sign we are, is devised by what others value in us. Those values determined our motivation, and we tend to only associate with people who agree with them, and never get the opportunity to transform by coming into disagreement with another.
So any “real” agreement is impossible without some kind of personality transformation. This is the most difficult task for an Aries, because if our identity is based on what others value, and motivated by their values, then any agreement is essentially a disguise to remain separate.
However, to compromise usually means suppressing individuality, the motivating force for an Aries. Compromise then, would feel like a dissolution of our sense-of-self, and this would create great inner conflict for developing our Aries qualities, the capacity for order and reason.
True merging, or agreement, can not take place without the destruction of intellect, and judgment. Intellect requires conflict and destruction to transform, to change and loosen its grip. It is only through the butting of heads, when exhaustion ensues, does surrender takes place. Although this results in a loss of strength, it is the beginning of the dissolution of the self. In this weakened state, a momentary surrendering takes place, and results in an expansion of consciousness.
True merging with another, becomes a heart issue — not understood by the intellect. It takes a psychochemical change to make the inner shift to develop the capacity for Order and Reason, brought about by the butting of heads, resulting in greater mental balance.
The sensation of inner balance acts as a subconscious signal that eventually shifts the sense-of-self through a chemical process, out of conflict and the experience of separateness, into the balance of transformation. A true merging with others takes place as we begin to view life by the feeling of Watchfulness.
