In Esoteric Astrology, the Sun represents our future self. Each Sun Sign, represents a particular phase in our spiritual development, and a specific area of our body, from Aries, signified by our head, to Pisces, represented by our feet. Each area of our body absorbs its individualized Sun sign characteristic.

We are all twelve signs of the zodiac, and must become aware of the life-force throughout the entire body. Each Sun sign corresponds to a particular quality of consciousness we need to develop during this lifetime. The Sun sign we are born into this lifetime represents our particular area to develop. We are learning to become aware of each phase, until we develop our spiritual awareness when all twelve phases are enlightened to wholeness. The following pages examine each Sign from a spiritual perspective – as a particular strength or weakness of mind.

Exoteric vs. Esoteric Astrology

Exoteric, or popular Sun-sign astrology, is what we read about in our daily newspaper, based on the assumption that everyone born within thirty-days of each other under the same sign, will behave similarly. This, of course, is not true, but does provide entertainment to millions, and even hits the mark from time to time.

However, Esoteric Astrology goes far beyond Sun sign Astrology. It is based on our exact birth time, within four minutes, and must include the date and place of birth of an individual. The natal chart is cast based on the moment of our first breath, and includes the Sun, Moon, planets, signs, houses, and aspects that make up our Birth Chart, representing the energies that form our personality response.

As we evolve, and our automatic response to the outside world becomes more humanized, our physical body changes the sensation that our sense-of-self experiences. When we become fully aware that we are neither a body, nor separate from others, we no longer respond reactionary, and the energy flows through us to others.

The Qabalah is classified as the Practical, Dogmatic, Literal, and Mystical or Unwritten. The mystical Qabalah is the ability to receive the Sun, Moon, planets, and signs, representing spiritual Intelligences as successive stages of unfolding spiritual awareness, evoking the spirit of man.

The Intelligences become perceptible when we develop the wisdom to use them. First, we develop our Aries Intelligence, the characteristics represented by the head, the power to rule over our negative, thinking and feeling patterns. As we continue to develop all the characteristics of each sign through to Pisces, the Intelligences change the cellular structure of our body, and our life changes direction. Our sense of self rises uniting our head to our toes by a spiritual feeling of oneness, as we realize we are able to receive all the esoteric principles, represented by all the signs and planets of the Zodiac.
